The String Quartet No. 12 in A-flat Dolopian, Op. 42 was written in 2013, and was a finalist in the 2012-13 Russell Third Angle New Ideas in Music competition. Approximately 12 minutes in duration, in four movements:
- I-Bizarre, with mirth (in the Dolopian mode)
- II-Shaded, floating (in the Dorian mode)
- III-Unstable, mercurial (in the Edetanian mode)
- IV-Stately, like a three-legged peacock (in the Lydian mode)
